 Towards the end of last year, AC Milan forward Andriy Shevchenko was a member of an official Ukrainian  delegation visiting Italy. Something totally unexpected happened when Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma and his entourage stepped into Silvio Berlusconi’s office. The Italian Prime Minister walked up to Andriy Shevchenko, produced a snow-white handkerchief, and bent to wipe the Ukrainian soccer player’s shoes.

A lonely animal can be more susceptible to disease. When we fall ill we seek medical help and we all know that finding a good doctor is not easy. Animals in a zoo are looked after by veterinarians and those in Kyiv Zoo are lucky to be in capable hands of a very kind and professional team. Наприкінці минулого року нападаючий “Мілана” Андрій Шевченко був включений до складу державної делегації України, котра відвідала з офіційним візитом Італію. Коли Леонід Кучма і особи, що його супроводжували, переступили поріг кабінету Сільвіо Берлусконі, відбувся такий епізод. Прем’єр-міністр Італії дістав з кишені білосніжний носовичок і, ставши на коліно, протер туфлі українському футболісту.

Tварини - як люди. В кожної свій характер, свої уподобання. Як ми, вони вміють любити і пам’ятають, хто їм зробив боляче. Як і ми, вони можуть занедужати. Як і нас, їх гнітить почуття самотності, і тоді вони сумують, хворіють. Коли нам зле, ми звертаємося до медиків, а хорошого лікаря (це знає кожний) знайти нелегко. У зоопарку за здоров’ям тварин стежать ветлікарі. Можна сказати, що мешканцям Київського зоопарку дуже пощастило, бо ними опікуються справжні професіонали і напрочуд добросердні люди.
